Our Georgia Pen Pals!!

Through ePals, we have connected with a Kindergarten class in Augusta, Georgia. We first "met" online in December and we have become fast friends ever since. See our friends? They are dressed as their favorite book characters! Just like we did :)
We received a surprise box from Georgia with fun things like grits, peanuts, and cotton. We LOVE writing our friends in Georgia! Each student wrote a letter to a friend in Georgia, and we are anxiously awaiting letters in return. To help us remember the parts of a friendly letter, we sing this song:
(to the tune of "Twinkle, Twinkle")

Letter writing is a lot of fun
But you must have 5 parts before you're done:
Date, greeting, body, too
closing, signature,
They'll know it's from you!
Letter writing is fun to do,
Please write to me...
I'll write to you!

RAZ-KIDS Rocks!!

Thanks to our generous PTA, our class has a subscription to Raz-Kids.com
After showing the class the website, within two days we had 100 % participation...hooray! It is amazing to see their progress. Remember, these books are geared to your child's individual reading level. It is a GREAT way to practice those reading skills with appropriate books at home. Keep up the super work!! You make me SO proud! Mrs. Timmreck

Book Character Parade

Thank you parents for sending your child dressed as a favorite character today. It was a wonderful way to celebrate a successful book fair week at RCE! The children were absolutely precious!

Dewberry Farm

We had loads of fun at Dewberry Farm! Thank you such much to James Dudley, Mitch McGee, Mary Chamberlain, Audra Marye, and Rachel Walker for joining us on our trip. Below are some snapshots taken by Audra Marye (thank you!). If any other parents have pictures they took, please email them to me and I will include them on our blog, too. Thank you again!

Watch Us Work at Literacy Stations!

Today I took a few snapshots of the children at Literacy Stations. As you can see, they are busy learners! Assessments are complete and next week we will begin our small group reading instruction during this time each day. I will be pulling the children to do letter sounds, word work, and guided reading. We are READY to roll!
